PDO Smuth Threads in Maurice, LA

Serving Lafayette, Youngsville, Broussard and Abbeville from the studio in Maurice, by Samantha Cormier, CRNA, FNP-C.

Book Now Text a question

PDO Smuth threads are fine dissolvable sutures placed just under the skin. They are not there to pull anything. As they dissolve over the following months your skin builds fresh collagen along the path they left, and the tissue they sat in supports itself better for it.

This is what Sam reaches for in the places a needle full of filler does not belong: the lip border, the fine vertical lines above the mouth, the crepey skin at the tear trough.

Sam does not do lifting threads. Barbed threads that grab and reposition tissue are a more invasive procedure, and they are not on her menu. Everything she places is a Smuth thread, and the point of it is collagen.

How it works

What your visit looks like.

Step 1

Consult & mapping

Sam looks at your skin quality and what is actually bothering you, then says whether threads are the right tool. Often the answer is threads plus something else, or something else first.

Step 2

Numbing

The area gets numbed thoroughly before she places a single thread.

Step 3

Placement

Threads go in through a fine needle or cannula, laid down in a lattice across the area. A session usually runs 30 to 60 minutes depending on how much ground you are covering.

Step 4

The collagen phase

Nothing dramatic happens that afternoon. Over the following two to three months, as the threads dissolve, collagen builds along every line they left, and the area firms from the inside.

Your rhythm

The threads themselves absorb over about four to six months, and the collagen they leave behind keeps working after that. A lot of her clients treat once or twice a year.

Aftercare & what to expect

Tenderness, tightness and possible bruising are normal for the first week. For two weeks: no dramatic facial expressions, no dental work, no massages or facials, sleep on your back, and skip strenuous exercise. Nothing looks dramatically different right away — the result builds over the following two to three months as collagen forms along the threads.

The Seymour standard

Why this is different here.

Your pdo smuth threads appointment is with Samantha Cormier, CRNA, FNP-C. Her first career was anesthesia, so the hand placing your units spent years doing precision work under a great deal more pressure than this. Nothing is rushed and no sales quota shapes your plan.

Your consult ends with a mapped plan and an exact total, and you approve it before anything touches your skin. Sometimes the right answer is a smaller treatment than you came in for. Sometimes it's nothing yet. You'll get that answer too.

  • The same person consults with you and treats you
  • Plans priced and approved before treatment, always

FAQ

PDO Smuth Threads, answered.

Is this a thread lift?
No. A thread lift uses barbed threads to grab and reposition tissue, which is a more invasive procedure. Sam places Smuth threads instead. They support the skin and stimulate collagen where they sit, rather than pulling anything anywhere.
Do Smuth threads hurt?
You are numbed thoroughly first. Expect pressure and an odd tugging sensation more than sharp pain, and some tenderness for a few days after.
How long is recovery?
Plan on a few days of tenderness and possibly mild bruising. For two weeks, skip dental work and strenuous exercise, and go easy on big facial expressions.
Are threads safe?
PDO, polydioxanone, has decades of history as surgical suture material and fully dissolves on its own. The material is not the variable; placement is.
Can threads be combined with filler?
Often, yes, and around the mouth it is a common pairing. Threads handle the fine etched lines and the border while filler handles volume. Sam maps the order at your consult.
