The Timing Guide

What to book, and how long before.

The question I get more than any other is about timing: someone has an event coming up and wants to know how far ahead to book. Here's the breakdown, counted backward from the day that matters, for everything I do in the studio.

Two rules before the timeline. First: never try something for the first time close to the day. It isn't dangerous. You deserve to see how your face responds while there's still time to adjust. Second: bruising is the variable, not the result. Most of what I do settles fast, and the buffer in this guide exists so a stray bruise never becomes a problem on the day itself.

01

6 months out

This is where the slow-building treatments live. None of them have a shortcut.

  • Hair PRP. A series spaced about a month apart, and you're judging the result at three to six months, not before. If thinning hair is the concern, this is the one that needs real runway.
  • Biostimulant filler doesn't add volume, it prompts your own collagen, and that takes months, built up in stages. Great for the long game. Useless as a last-minute fix.
  • Your first tox appointment. If you've never had it, start now. I find your dose, watch how you move, and adjust at the next visit. By the event, you'll be on a known quantity.
02

3 months out

Series treatments start here. Anything billed as three sessions, four weeks apart, has to begin now.

  • Microneedling with PRP. Usually three sessions about a month apart. Collagen keeps building for months after the last one, so finishing early works in your favor.
  • Chemical peels follow the same logic. A course does more than a single peel, and peeling skin two weeks before a wedding is a bad memory nobody needs.
  • PDO threads. Results build gradually and keep improving as collagen forms along the thread path. Three months gives it room to look like nothing happened, in the good way.
03

6 to 8 weeks out

The sweet spot for most injectables. Enough time to see it, judge it, and refine it.

  • Dermal and lip filler. It settles into its real shape around two weeks. Book here and there's room to review, and top up if we want to, without rushing.
  • Tox peaks around two weeks and holds for roughly three months. Booked in this window, you're at your best on the day and still covered after.
  • Your last new thing. Whatever you haven't tried before, this is the cutoff. Past this point we refine what's already working instead of introducing something new.
04

2 to 4 weeks out

Refinement only now. We're adjusting, not introducing.

  • A small tox top-up, if the two-week check showed we needed one.
  • A light peel or a hydrating facial. Nothing that resurfaces hard.
  • This is also when I want your skincare routine fully settled. No new actives from here on.
05

The final two weeks

The most useful thing I can give you here is a list of what not to do.

  • No new treatments. None. Not a facial from somewhere new, not a product a friend swears by.
  • Don't start retinol, and don't step up the strength of anything you're already using.
  • Skip waxing and threading if you've had a peel recently.
  • Go easy on alcohol and salt for the two days before. It shows up as puffiness more than people expect.
  • Drink water and sleep well. Leave your face alone. That's really it.

Counting backward from the day that matters

  1. 6 months
    Anything new to you

First-time filler, first threads, a first peel. You want room to see how you respond.

  2. 3 months
    Start the series

Microneedling and peels work in courses of three, spaced about a month apart.

  3. 6–8 weeks
    Biostimulants

Sculptra and Radiesse build your own collagen slowly. This is the last sensible window.

  4. 2–4 weeks
    Tox

Far enough out to review at two weeks and adjust anything that needs it.

  5. Final 2 weeks
    Nothing new

Skincare only. No first-time anything, and no dental work if you have had filler.

  6. The day
The buffer is not about danger. It is about having time to adjust if your face wants something different from what we planned.

If you're reading this and your date is already closer than the timeline allows, don't panic and don't let anyone talk you into something aggressive. Text me what you've got scheduled and how much time is left, whether you're five minutes from the studio in Maurice or driving in from Lafayette, and I'll tell you plainly what's worth doing and what to leave until after.
